Charles Avison's rather free arrangements (1744) of Scarlatti keyboard sonatas " - - reinforce the notion that Avison was one of the most important concerto composers in 18 C Britain" [Simon Fleming].

It is good to have them brought to our attention again, but a quick comparison confirms that the lighter and more buoyant Hyperion recording under Roy Goodman is altogether to be preferred.
