Bryce Morrison provides an apologia for the original release of this crowd-pleasing compilation (MusicMasters 1988).

As a CD it does no good for Hough or for the numerous composers of these short pieces, all of which have served him for live recital encores, as well they might. But for home listening such fare, one after another, quickly loses attention and it debases the high speed virtuosity it is meant to celebrate. We had it on over breakfast and it quickly palled and we abandoned it about half way through.

But what you'll get is clear enough, and the track-list should help you decide whether it is for you? And you may enjoy a little insight into the recording session for the Gabrilovich in Stephen Hough's blog...
