Kožená, Eibenova, Brezina & Pospfsil; Capella Regia Musicalis/Robert Hugo DG Archiv - 4778365 The rustic Czech Christmas Mass 'Hej, mistre' (Hail, Master!) by Jakub Jan Ryba (1765-1815) is Kožená made the recording some ten years ago "when I had just finished my studies - a lovely period of my life". The naivety of the music is preserved by a simple style of singing, vibrato free, with delightful accompaniments from a small orchestra with the organ (1726) of the Convent Kladruby. Four voices, no choir. Presentation is attractive, with full documentation, words & translations etc. Together with three pastorellas chosen by Kožená, this first general release will make a splendid Christmas present for international record collectors.
