http://www.prestoclassical.co.uk/l/Regis Ravel: Music for Two Pianos Regis - RRC1356 [Recorded 1990] I have been mystified by a batch of these budget CDs from Regis; quality variable, mostly good; liner notes mostly perfunctory, unsigned, unattributed notes & images and lacking essential information re sources etc... In that respect, this is one of the worst, though the disc itself and its re-issue is eminently worthwhile. Help is at hand through Gramophone's archive, with a review which clears up all the mysteries. Most of the items are arrangements; we told so only for La Valse... The recording quality is fine and the disc well filled and entirely delectable. French Orchestral Music Regis - RRC1328 [75 mins] This is highly recommendable at the Regis price; a compelling account of my favourite of Chausson's music and good to have the Honegger pieces together again. Relevant documentation for once... Dupré Organ music I am far less enthusiastic about Jeremy Filsell's Dupré from Ely Cathedral [RRC1321]. The composer certainly did not die in 1931 (!) but some of the music sounds as if he well might have done... Peter Grahame Woolf
