Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Daniel Barenboim

DG 477 8707 - [6 CD Box ; 1974-77]

"Of all Fischer-Dieskau's myriad musical journeys, that through the songs of Hugo Wolf surely stands as one of the most deeply satisfying - - Fischer-Dieskau at his peak."
I endorse this opinion (Click on the link above for full details of each disc and a review).

The set as re-released appears to be intended for Wolf specialists (who probably collected them when the discs were originally released in threes) or else for internet listeners, as no texts are included.

They can be found in Emily Ezust's public-spirited website, and make for good listening with earphones; http://www.recmusic.org/lieder/get_text.html?TextId=5167 etc.

Navigation is efficient, but needs a little practice; pause between songs...

A rewarding journey indeed, but it demands effort from the listener.
