There is ample justification for recording these popular sonatas together; their ten movements were conceived in 1939 and worked on together. Giltburg finds them "a performing experience unique for a pianist's fingers as well as for the imagination."

With up to date recording equipment at Wyastone Lees, this new recording (January 2012) is competitive with the many others before and since Barbara Nissman's first recording of all the sonatas.
