Stravinsky Ballets Channel Classics CCS SA 32112 Do we really need any more studio CD recordings of The Rite & Firebird? Channel Classics' notes take you through all the scandal of the Diaghilev premiere of Sacre du Printemps in Paris; why? This is an antiseptic account caught diligently on a dozen microphones, attracting some scorn from Amazon readers... Better are the brief Scherzo a la Russe & the Tango composed for America, but not enough so for a purchase recommendation. Nowadays it needs something special - q.v. e.g. Dudamel rehearsing at the Royal Albert Hall; that would have been something... Better to think of DVDs and new interpretations, such as Uwe Scholz's of Leipzig, one of the most important German choreographers who died in 2004; his doesn't quite pass muster, but points the way.
