Pantagruel

Laydie Louthians Lilte” Ballads, Ayres & Dances from 17th Century Scotland

Anna Maria Wierød (voice) Mark Wheeler (lute, cittern & gittern) Paulina van Laarhoven (viola da gamba and gittern)

St Alfege's Greenwich 12 November 2011

Pantagruel has a further change of personell during the last year, Dominik Schneider being replaced by viola da gambist Paulina van Laarhoven.

Because her instrument has to be played static, sitting down, this has caused as of now a lessening of energy and interaction within the ensemble.

The Laydie Louthians Lilteprogramme was devised around the Scots singer Hannah Morrison and is available on a splendid CD.

Pantagruel will be featured today (Saturday 12 November) on BBC Radio 3's THE EARLY MUSIC SHOW at 1.00 p.m. and will be available for a week on Listen Again.

Nymphidia

Anna Maria Wierød, Dominik Schneider & Mark Wheeler

The Forge, Delancey Street, Camden, London 29 April 2010

Pantagruel introduced their new programme Nymphidia at Camden's delightful venue The Forge, prior to an English tour of Malvern, Southwell and Norwich before returning to Germany.

They will be back in UK July and September, and should not be missed.

The show is sharpened since last year and brings together well rehearsed expertise, with spontaneity and adaptable responses to the situations in which Pantagruel find themselves.

Mark Wheeler has created one of the most sophisticated websites on the internet where there are plenty of videos etc to whet your appetite to see them live.

For Pantagruel in UK 2009 and their CDs see our round up at http://www.musicalpointers.co.uk/reviews/cddvd08/PantagruelScotland.html

The Forge has an eclectic concerts policy and we recently enjoyed there a sell out event of specially composed pieces for a new cello/percussion duo (Gabriella Swallow & Genevieve Wilkins) with most of the composers present.
